Sphingosine kinase 1? (SphK1) is a lipid kinase responsible for the formation of Sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P) from sphingosine. SphK1 is found in the cytosol of eukaryotic cells until activated and it migrates to the plasma membrane. There are two isoforms of SphK; SphK1 and SphK2. Both isoforms are available from Echelon.
This recombinant full-length human Sphingosine kinase 1 with N-terminal 6xHis tag is tested for activity against sphingosine. It is expressed in a baculovirus infected Sf9 insect cell expression system.
